Bullets

Although I don't feel like I have a good blog post, here are some random bullets of thought.

* Last week was VBS. It was in the evening and I didn't cook all week. I had to dust my stove today. Yikes.
*Painting is not one of my favorite things. I now know how to paint a room and have no desire to do it again (before and after pictures will be coming). I feel grateful that the former owners of our house had some decent taste and we don't have to repaint everything.
* Tomorrow we get a grill! I got a grill cookbook for a wedding shower gift and I am very excited to get to use it.
* Only three days left of summer school! This has truly been the perfect job - no complaints. However, it hasn't really felt like summer yet. I'm ready for a break from teaching.
*Lost - as in the TV show...I watched this for the first season while living with my parents and student teaching. I watched most of the second season, but missed a few episodes once Brian and I started dating. I liked talking to him on the phone more than watching the show. I never watched again after that - Brian doesn't really like to watch TV. BUT, I borrowed the first season and Brian is now HOOKED. We've watched 9 episodes in the last two days.
*Grocery shopping...I miss this during the school year! Brian does a great job, but I love the feeling of getting a great deal...like boxes of cereal for 50 cents a box. I love shopping at the new Price Chopper. I hate shopping at Wal.Mart. It stresses me out.
*This last week was super hot and we thought our air conditioner was broken. Great. It's not. We have an energy saver thermostat and on the hottest days the power company cycles our air compressor on and off in fifteen minute increments. It was beastly hot in our house on the days it was beastly hot outside. That thing has GOT to be replaced. It would have been nice to know that before we paid someone to come out to the house...
* I desperately want to take an awesome vacation. There are no plans in the works for a trip any time soon.

Happy 2nd Anniversary!

Last night we celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary. I can hardly believe it's been two years. This June 2 had slightly less fanfare than the last two (our wedding in 2007 and an trip to Italy in 2008), but it was great fun and my husband had some surprises up his sleeve! We had discussed eating at the Melting Pot - one of our favorites. The food was delicious, as usual and we had a great waitress! They knew it was our anniversary because Brian had reserved a private room at the restaurant, and waiting on the table were red roses and a bottle of wine.

The wine was a really exciting surprise - not because I love wine so much, but we have a bottle to represent each June 2nd of our marriage. I'd been wondering what we were going to do this year since there wasn't anything (relating to wine) that I thought we'd be able to find to make this bottle specific to our celebration. But he did it! This one really is perfect!

Here are the other bottles. The one on the right we took from our hotel room while we were on our honeymoon. You can see the Sandals logo in the bottom left corner. The one in the middle we bought while on vacation to Italy last summer. We share the same wedding anniversary as my parents and they took us with them to celebrate!

It was a wonderful evening! The church were Brian was working is having VBS, so he got to leave 2 hours early and we were able to go out to eat on our actual anniversary! We got home around 10:00 and stretched out on our bed to help us digest our full bellies and fell asleep! I woke up at 1:00 and washed my face, turned out all the lights in our house and went back to bed. I haven't been sleeping too well in our new house yet, so getting more than 6 hours was wonderful!
